Can't find what you're looking for? Create it yourself..

Ok so technically, Hineahuone isn’t an atua (deity, elemental force) - since she was the first woman to be created. But she makes an honourable feature since she’s badass and Goddess in every other definition of the word.

Plus it’s my blog, so yeah.. I do what I want.

Now we've cleared that up, let’s take it back to how Hineahuone came to be..

I mentioned in previous posts how our world underwent various phases from Te Kore (thought, potential, formless) > Te Pō (darkness, taking on form) to Te Ao Mārama (world of light).

As the atua experienced their new freedom in Te Ao Mārama, they learned many things - a lot of that thanks to the baskets of knowledge that Tāne retrieved from the heavens (a story for Tāne's chapter). One of those learnings;

te ira tangata (humankind).

The only problem was, there was no human element at the time, so what happens when you can’t find what you’re looking for? D.I.Y - do it yourself, mate, she'll be right. So Tāne, his brothers and parents devised a plan to create humans in their new world and thousands of years later, here we are.

Learning #2 from Hineahuone, or from her creation and how she came to be - if you can't find what you want to be, give, have or do;

create it yourself.

Use what you have, collaborate with others, see it with your minds eye and make it happen. That is in fact, how you came to be in the first place.

Ngā mihi o te tau hou Pākeha, āku mihi maioha ki a tātou katoa. New Year's blessings everyone!

Be safe, be you, be love,

Hana.
