People & place: Abydos, 2017.

I worked out at the Abydos mine site for just over a week; home to some of the funniest and most chill people to be around who I've met since I moved to Perth. Also home to the first maunga (mountain)  I had the privilege of climbing and the first awa (river) I got to soak in - for about 10 seconds because it was freezing. Felt so good to be around nature, to engage with it and to connect with the wairua (soul) of the place. The landscape is so different to what I'm used to back home; the way the rocks look (they feel the same when you fall on them though), the red colour of the earth and also the flat plains with the odd hill here and there.
