exposure leads to expansion

Another round of Ranginui and Papatuanuku (heaven and earth) separation (and therefore creation, destruction) kōrero with the dawn of Whiro (new moon). We’ve covered the darkness, the pursuit of light and pain of separation regardless of whether it’s in your best interests or not…

So I thought in this next rotation we could dig into what happens after that separation; physical, psychological, emotional or otherwise.

For te ira atua (the gods), it meant flexing and getting to know their new surroundings; realising their potential. For Rangi and Papa, it meant the beginning of a new reality without one another to embrace. For te ira tangata (humankind), it meant the latest domino had fallen in place, ready to set off the next for our eventual entry into this new world.

The creation of one thing is ultimately the destruction of something else.

The separation narrative on its own holds so much wisdom and information to help us navigate our own experiences of heaven and earth being ripped apart, in our daily lives. Here’s a quote I’ve shared many times that’ll complement this wānanga (internalisation) pretty well, “the mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions.” by the koroua Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Once Uepoto discovered space beyond the primordial parents, there was no going back. There was no un-knowing or cmd+z/ctrl+z to undo, no take backs.

“Exposure leads to expansion”

— my man, Fred Taylor

And once that expansion hits, like pāpā Ralph said — the mind never returns to its original dimensions. It may get distracted or oppressed into inaction or conditioned to believe there’s no point pursuing it. but the seed has already long been planted. The dominoes that lead to the end of Te Pō (creation phases of darkness; 140+ btw..) started to fall, in that moment.

As you navigate your own creations, beginnings and endings of phases, look at Uepoto’s example as the original blueprint.

  • Made the realisation of a new possibility, a new world

  • Shared the discovery with others (whom I assume he trusted)

  • Had wānanga (deliberation) together to decide the best course of action

  • A plan was formulated and action was taken…

..leading to the eventual separation and dawn of a new age; Te Ao Mārama (world of light). What expression of te ao mārama awaits you? What steps/phases are necessary for you to complete or enter into you so you can best express yourself?

Tēnā tātou,

Hana.
