new levels of the same vision: the deeper we dive into ourselves, the farther we expand
new year, new cycle, new kaupapa (theme), new wānanga (internalisations) — could even be a new you! so many ‘new’ things going on. heck, i’ve even got a new relationship.. it’s not that new, but more on that later, maybe.. lol anyway…
These beginnings of phases are good reference points to reflect back to other moments in time and I often think back to baby hunz and what she’d think about the journey we’ve been on…
I try to recall my dreams and goals when I was younger (most of them belonged to other people who lay it on me, suggesting or encouraging me to do this, that and the other..
I was HEAVY on the people pleasing as a kid so took them all on as my own..
I know for sure writing a blog, recording vlogs, public speaking and having a radio show weren’t in there! That’s not to say what I’m doing now (the above, plus a few other things here and there..) is outright ‘new’ but more so, a new level of the same vision.
At the time, we’re just unaware of it. Unaware of our potential, of parts of ourselves, why we’re here, how to harness our gifts etc.
and so until the moment we become aware — it doesn’t exist for us.
But who we are and what we need has always been inside of us and it takes the experiences we’ve endured, overcome, survived.. the opportunities we’ve failed at, missed out on or succeeded with and otherwise, to develop the character we’ve needed to be exactly who we are right now.
I wouldn’t know myself the way I do, I wouldn’t express myself or have the perspective, empathy, compassion I do now had I not taken the path that lead me here.
The deeper we dive into ourselves and bring awareness to parts of ourselves we’ve never met before, the more of ‘ourselves’ we become. The more we remember who we are — by the way, I’m not just talking we as in the individuals, but who you represent as whakapapa in action; the culmination of everyone who’s come before you, who lives on in you.
I’m just trying to love on baby Hunz, refine the gifts I have and put them to good use for something greater than myself. Every new day, week and year (Māori or Gregorian, or both!), like a rauru that spirals into itself and expands outward at the same time, I learn about myself at a different level, which allows me to grow that little bit more.
the more I extended myself and strive beyond my reach, the more to me I realise I don’t yet know.
Baby Hunz had a totally different focus than what not-so-baby Hana does now haha she was at a different level of fulfilling the vision, the dreams, the goals we have. Throughout the years we’ve been able to refine that vision more and more and enter new levels of ourselves which evidently reveal more of the vision as well.
Funny how things work like that. the deeper we dive into ourselves, the farther we expand…. how well do you know yourself? Is there more in there to uncover?
