something the world never knew it needed: you

What you understand determines what you see, so how can you use the future or present you want to see as a guiding light to help you broaden, extend and expand your understanding — of yourself, the world and your contribution to it?

What a great whakaaro (thought) to wrap up that theme on expressions of light and bring us back into some #atuablogseries goodness.

Rather than follow one atua (eldest ancestors, gods, elemental force) per moon cycle, we’re going to cover a pūrākau (story) during the cycle and come at it from different perspectives each week. I’m looking forward to this approach because well for starters, it’s different ha so we’ll get some different flows happening. and also, it’ll provide more of an insight into the dynamics between atua and how they interact with each other and with us,

and a blueprint for how we can engage with them.

Isolating the atua as individual or separate from their siblings and whānau is almost like interrogating the structure of a single puzzle piece on its own as opposed to how it fits (or doesn’t fit) with other pieces to form a picture, or understanding. A worthy wānanga, for sure, but I’m keen to see what might come up when we add more pieces and take a wider view of things.

Earlier this week I was sent one of the most loveliest emails, reminding me of something I’d said at a wānanga (workshop) a couple of years ago,

“Make like Hineahuone and fashion yourself

into something the world has never seen before,

something the world never knew it needed to transcend itself.”

Let that one sink in and whenever you’re ready, keep walking…

The creation of our earth-formed maiden, the First Lady of ALL the first humans, Hineahuone, is on speed-dial in terms of which pūrākau I refer to when self-determination, -actualisation and -empowerment are up for discussion, or when it comes to living truths, being unapologetically you and knowing your worth.

Hineahuone was fashioned from the earth at Kurawaka, enriched with expressions of each of the atua (140+) in their physical and metaphysical forms, with the entire universe embedded within her, giving her heart a reason to beat, thus bringing our girl to life.

Tīhei! Mauri ora !

She was built for purpose, given everything she needed and nothing she didn’t. Woven and intertwined into the very fabric of who we are is the capacity for greatness and excellence and

the responsibility to make it manifest.

Look to this pūrākau as a reminder and an affirmation that you are built for purpose. You have what you need already within you to do all the things, and you can fashion and re-fashion yourself as you need to truly flex the gifts you have just. like. your. tupuna. have. done. before. you.

Think of your perspective, your quirks, your intellect, your physical attributes, the opportunities afforded to you, your lines of whakapapa (genealogy), your temperament…… you gravitate towards and away from elements… for some reason?

Won’t it be an adventure to find out or experiment with what it could be?! Heck, it may even be for this season of your life, so you can collect more puzzle pieces to fashion something new in the next.

Make like Hineahuone and fashion yourself into something the world has never seen before, something the world never knew it needed to transcend itself, it could even be something like refusing to wear a tie and affect change upon an institution, one tie at a time.

Tēnā tātou,

Hana.
